IMO stands for the International Maritime Organisation. This specialised agency of the United Nations is responsible, amongst other things, for the safety and security of international shipping and for the prevention of marine and air pollution caused by ships.
The IMO develops international regulations and technical standards for shipping. The relevant national authorities and the inspection and certification bodies designated by them are responsible for implementing and monitoring specific requirements.
DBI Certification in Hvidovre, near Copenhagen, is one such designated body. Under the European Marine Equipment Directive, DBI inspects and certifies Microshield AG’s quality management system. The underlying technical requirements are based, amongst other things, on the relevant IMO regulations.
The LĂĽrssen shipyard is the main contractor and manufactures the hull. Numerous specialist companies supply the technical systems, interior fittings and other components required for the construction and outfitting of a mega-yacht.
The use of materials and components in shipbuilding is subject to stringent international requirements. Depending on the application, appropriate approvals and a monitored, quality-assured production process are required.
Microshield holds a Module D approval for the maritime sector. This forms the basis for the standard-compliant, quality-assured and monitored manufacture of our ship decks.
As part of this certified quality assurance system, Brinkmann Innenausbau GmbH in Oelde, Germany, is also approved as a production site for the manufacture of our ship decks. This enables us to meet key requirements for use in demanding maritime projects.
